How to Tell Which Chakra Needs Support (And What to Do About It)

July 20, 20255 min read

🌿 Introduction

You know that feeling when something just feels off? Maybe your energy is low, your emotions are all over the place, or you keep repeating the same frustrating patterns. Sometimes, these shifts aren’t just emotional or physical—they’re energetic.

That’s where the chakra system comes in. These ancient energy centers are a powerful way to tune into what’s happening beneath the surface.

In this post, I’ll guide you through how to tell which chakra may need extra support, plus gentle ways to bring yourself back into alignment. You’ll also get access to my free Chakra Self-Assessment PDF—a beautifully designed tool to help you uncover what’s calling for care right now.

🔮 What Are Chakras?

Chakras (pronounced shock-ruhs) are energy centers in the body, each one connected to specific emotional, physical, and spiritual themes. When energy flows freely through them, we feel balanced, grounded, and more in sync with ourselves. When one or more are blocked or overactive, we may feel stuck, disconnected, or drained.

There are seven main chakras, each with its own color, symbol, and area of influence. From the base of your spine to the crown of your head, they form a map of your inner world.

🔍 Signs Your Chakra Might Be Out of Balance

Here’s a quick overview of the seven chakras and what imbalance might look or feel like:

1. Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Location: Base of spine

Theme: Safety, stability, survival

Imbalance signs: Anxiety, disconnection, money fears, chronic fatigue

You might say: “I don’t feel safe or grounded.”

2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)

Location: Below navel

Theme: Emotions, creativity, sexuality

Imbalance signs: Numbness, creative blocks, shame, intimacy issues

You might say: “I feel stuck or disconnected from pleasure.”

3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)

Location: Upper abdomen

Theme: Confidence, identity, personal power

Imbalance signs: Low self-esteem, digestive issues, perfectionism

You might say: “I feel like I’m not enough.”

4. Heart Chakra (Anahata)

Location: Center of chest

Theme: Love, connection, compassion

Imbalance signs: Grief, fear of vulnerability, loneliness

You might say: “It’s hard to trust or open up.”

5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)

Location: Throat

Theme: Communication, truth, expression

Imbalance signs: People-pleasing, fear of speaking up, tight jaw/throat

You might say: “I can’t say what I really feel.”

6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

Location: Between eyebrows

Theme: Intuition, clarity, inner knowing

Imbalance signs: Brain fog, overthinking, lack of direction

You might say: “I don’t trust my instincts.”

7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)

Location: Top of head

Theme: Connection to higher self/spirit

Imbalance signs: Feeling isolated, disconnected, rigid beliefs

You might say: “I feel spiritually disconnected or numb.”

💛 What to Do Once You Know Which Chakra Needs Support

Once you’ve identified the chakra that’s calling for care, you can begin exploring practices to help restore balance. The goal isn’t to “fix” yourself—it’s to support flow, safety, and alignment.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

🌱 Root Chakra Support

Walk barefoot on grass or earth

Try grounding foods: root veggies, warm soups

Repeat affirmations like: I am safe. I belong here.

🧡 Sacral Chakra Support

Dance or move your hips

Explore creative expression (paint, write, sing)

Affirm: I honor my emotions and desires.

💛 Solar Plexus Chakra Support

Practice saying no or setting boundaries

Do core-strengthening movement (yoga, Pilates)

Affirm: I am enough just as I am.

💚 Heart Chakra Support

Place a hand on your heart and breathe slowly

Connect with someone who sees you clearly

Affirm: I give and receive love with ease.

💙 Throat Chakra Support

Journal freely for 5 minutes

Practice saying one hard truth aloud

Affirm: My voice matters. I speak my truth.

💜 Third Eye Chakra Support

Spend time in silence or nature

Use visualization or meditation

Affirm: I trust my inner wisdom.

🤍 Crown Chakra Support

Lay under the stars or sky

Read or explore spiritual texts or practices

Affirm: I am connected to something greater.

💬 Final Thoughts

Your energy body is speaking to you all the time. Learning to listen is a gentle, powerful way to come back to yourself.

You don’t need to be a Reiki master or a mystic to feel your chakras. You just need a little curiosity, a bit of kindness, and tools that meet you where you are.

When we understand our energy patterns—where we’re open, where we’re blocked, and where we’re healing—we give ourselves permission to grow with grace.

And remember: your body wants to heal. I can show you how. 💫
